I believe another advantage is for the turbo to slow down and cool down so when you turn it off it isnt spinning alot without oil.

I have seen turbos spin for 10-30 seconds after a motor was shut-off.

It's supposed to let the oil cool the turbo cartridge so it doesn't "coke" the oil and clog the return lines over time.

My first car (Mitsubishi Starion) ended up with a plugged return line because the oil would bake in the line.

The turbine cartridge is blazing hot, you'd want "it" to be cooled down some before shut down.

I've never heard of one on LSx kits, but I'd guess the theory would still be valid.

why are they Ricers when they have turbos on their cars and obviously know more about FI than you do?

I just let the car idle down for a minute or two....enough time to close out my log on HPT and save it, plus some other tidbits and then i'll shut the car down.

I wouldn't spend the $$ on one.

oh god, grow up

its a joke, like "what bov should i get?" "what bov sounds best?"

I dont see how "FI" has anything to do with the cooling process of metal and the properties it inherits. asshat.

if you dont have anything useful to add to the thread, kindly...shut the hell up :

I like them and you can get them for under $100. It's just a good idea and cheap to do.

Lots of benefits... preventing cracking, plugged return tubes, and others, but they all stem form not letting the cartrige cool to a reasonable amount.

It's good to spend two minutes minimum, but for those that aren't patient enough then the timer will help 'em out.

If I had a daily driver turbo car I'd add the timer. Project cars and weekend toys naturally get more time/attention.

Get one or just don't run late for work like me! You don't want the boss wondering why you show up late and then have the nerve to sit in your car another 2-3 minutes.

turbotimers are cheap, its simple and its a good idea if you have a turbo, take the key out, lock the door and walk away and the car shuts down. some turbotimers add up on the shutdownminutes if you drive hard, but that shouldnt be necessary . no need to use them on engines without turbos as far as i can see.
