Donaldson vs K&N?
Picked up the SLP high Flow Lid..... Came with a Donaldson air filter but I hear K and N is better especially if I do the "Free Ram Air" mod. Is the K&N filter for my 2001 SS..... #- 33-2118?
Thanks

Re: Donaldson vs K&N?
The K&N was never designed to use on a LS1 that's why you need the POS foam gasket, the Holley was designed to be used on a LS1 and there's no foam gasket needed. If you put the K&N next to a Holley Power Shot you'll understand why I said get the Holley instead. It's your car but I think you'll be happy with the Holley.

Re: Donaldson vs K&N?
What about the "high flow" Donaldson paper filter? The folks at SLP swear it's better than any filter on the mearket. What's your take on that? Some say it's not good to oil your filter on an LS1....... Cleaning can be a pain in the *** too......

Re: Donaldson vs K&N?
I really don't know if the Donaldson works as well or not, it's said to be a good filter so if you're happy with the performance then just run the Donaldson filter.
If you clean and oil the filter correctly you shouldn't have any problems, the problem usally happens because they have over oiled the filter.
I only suggested the Holley over the K&N because it looked like you wanted to go with a oiled filter, for the money you spent on the Donaldson filter I'd use it until it no longer was any good, then decide what kind of replacement filter you want.
