There are shifters compatible with the 4L60e, just no direct fit for our cars.

I had an 88 IROC years ago and B&M made a megashifter that dropped right in and looked great.
We 4th gen owners are not so lucky.
You can get almost any shifter to work so long as it will work with 4 forward gears. Alot of the aftermarket shifters will.
The rub is you have to do a custom install of the shifter ........mounting it on the floor and then modifying the console to work without it looking like crap.
When I still had a 60E I used my B&M Pro Stick with it. I had it set up just using 2nd 3rd and 4th but it worked fine controlling the tranny and if I had bought a 4 speed gate plate I could have used all the gears.
I have since replaced my failure prone 60E with a built TH400 with RMVB and I simply changed the gate plate on the shifter.
It takes some thought and you need halfway decent measureing and rudimentary fabricating skills but it can be done.
