Default 4L60e w/ Nitrous

how long will a typical bolt on car with a 100-150 shot go without major problems to the tranny? i have only had t56 cars until now so i am not sure about doing a spray on the stock 4L60e. any advise?

Stock 4L60E, don't spray through the shifts or outta the hole and it may last you a while, but there are no guarantees. It will start to slip on you at some point and you will need a beefier unit built.

Make sure you use the "window" switch, when using nitrous, and the unit should last awhile.

Yea, but how is the window switch supposed to work with a A4? If you have the upper rpm limit set at say 6250 and the car shifts at 6500, then as soon as it drops below 6250 it is spraying again, and hitting during the middle of the shift?

And when people say "don't spray out of the hole" that doesn't mean don't spray 1st gear, it means don't hit the spray until the car is rolling, right?

Yeah thats a heavy stress point on your transmission (and your entire car for that matter) assuming you could even get traction. Unless you are running slicks you probably wouldn't be able to use it in 1st anyway.

My Camaro had about 100k on the clock when i installed the no2. The tranny lasted about 2500-3000 miles after that on a 150 shot, and that was with a window switch. For the most part, consider your tranny dead, and save up for a nice built auto i got mine done and have had NO problems after that (16k later)

The shift happens so fast it won't hit in the middle. I found that shutting off 200rpm before the shift is about perfect. 100rpm before it will spray into the shift and at 300rpm the 2-3 shift feels painfully slow.

When most people refer to spraying out of the hole, they mean dead out of the hole. I would use the window switch to delay the hit a few feet out if your spraying a 150+.
