Your question makes no sense. Most popular 17' diameter wheels for f-bodies run between 9-11" wide.

You didn't say "How wide a TIRE can I fit on my STOCK SS 17" wheels?" I have 17" wheels on my Subaru that are only 7" wide. I can't go much wider than 225 on that WIDE of a wheel, regardless of it's 17" diameter. My 17x11" rear ZR1 wheels have 315s. THAT is how your question doesn't make sense. Do a search and I'm sure you'll figure it out.

"How wide a tire"? You mean how wide OF a tire? Yeah, I know what you're saying. I should have been more specific. Tell me you didn't sell your LS1 for that Subaru. I need grammar classes.

FIXED.

I don't have an LS1, it's the LT1 that appears in my signature. And no, I didn't sell it. I find it amusing that you, of all people, would dare to correct my grammar.

You can safely run a 275 width tire on the stock 17" x 9" rim. There is no reason to go to a 285 because you won't get better traction, but a 285 will fit as well.

Personally, I would stick with the stock 275s.
