Smile windshield wipers

Hey all,

I recently bought 2 new wipers for my bird...and about 50% of the wipes dont even touch the glass...when they travel across my windshield, they miss about 50-60% of the glass...I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with a 93-97 firebird? I was thinking the arms were'nt pushing the wipers themselves down against the glass enough...beats me.

Anyone know a specific make / model of wipers that will remedy this?

Thanks so much!

/brian

I have had the same problem on my Camaro. I just bent the blades a little bit, and it worked.

The blades. You have to do it carefully. If you bend the arms, they probably wouldn't go down all the way.

On our cars you cant just run normal replacement blades from o'reillys or autozone you have to get them from a dealership. Yea its stupid but what can we do

yea Technically 93 to 97 F-bodies use a dealer only blade, all aftermarket blades dont fit perfectly, you have to bend the blade slightly until it touches the windshield fully, after you install them, push down on the blade into the windshield and you will get good contact.

I have contemplated changing over to the newer LS1 style wiper arms, they just use regular any brand blades.

also check and make sure yuor arms are pushing tightly against the glass if not pop up the arm cover piece and tighten the arm nut this will make it press harder on the glass, good luck

You want blades that work 100x better than the ones the dealer carries (guess who makes 80% of the blades for GM and Ford? Anco! I.E O'reillys and Autozone brands) But, if you want the BEST imo Get the new Bosch ICONS. They curve like crazy and are so flexable and real silent even on high in heavy rain. Not too mention they last longer than standard blades. Only downside is they are $22-24 a piece. I have a work beater piece of **** Saturn and the windshield on it is curved as hell andeven they reach all of the windshield.

And thats totally not true about dealer only blade being the only real option for F bodies. Maybe if you were refilling the factory blades or something. But, refills are all garbage anyways.

I bought Rain-X brand wipers, and they miss about a saucer sized spot on the bottom of the windshield when the arms are straight up(same spot on both arms). Now I wasn't happy with this at all, but it seems to be alot better then what you guys have.
