QTEC electric cutout dyno results - 12RWHP & 9TQ - graph inside
NorCal-Ls1.net had a dyno day here in Fremont, CA. About 40-50 people showed up, and about 15-20 dynoed. Some quick highlights - a 8 lb powerdyne'd TA pulled 445HP with a conservative tune. A new Z06 with an x-pipe laid down 380HP!!! - he traps 122 with a 12.1 ET on street tires...not bad. A new Cobra with cold air induction laid down 375HP, and sounded really smooth doing it.
The weather was great-nice and cool. My first dyno last fall (MTI clear lid) netted my 312 RWHP and 330 RWTQ. Today, with no other mods and my QTEC cutout closed, I pulled 317HP and 334TQ. Then we opened the electric cutout and pulled 329HP and 343TQ.
That is a gain of 12HP and 9TQ.
An interesting thing to note:
-> there was no power loss down low with the cutout open.
My A/F ratio was, and has always been, between 10.9:1 and 11.8:1 - stock tuning. The higher the RPMs, the richer she gets.
Other insteresting notes - a 2002 SS with SLP long tube headers, y-pipe, loudmouth, MAF, and Whisper lid pulled 335HP/343TQ right before me. Another Z28 that went right after me with lid, MAC mid length headers, loudmouth, MAF pulled 318RW/330 TQ.
Needless to say, I am pleased with both my results, and the cutout itself. I honestly expected it to gain maybe 5HP max over the stock exhaust. As far as bang for the buck, the electric cutout put out decent exhaust gains for a minimal investment ($200) compared to a similarly equipped SS with long tubes, y-pipe and catback (about $1500 or so), and SLP MAF.

Nice gains. Do those cutouts seal up nice and tight? I have seen one of the mccord cutouts a couple of years back. After a week of driving with it, it would never seal back up tight.
