Yes, my 99 FRC came w/ HUD, it was a dealer option though, not standard like the 02+z06's....

You are wrong.

12% of 99's came with it, and 81% of 00 hardtops came with it. Like you said though, it is an easy mod to do (and costs around $450).

Actually it stayed that way for a few weeks, never saw any tracks going into the brush, mostly locals on that road.

Just saw a thread that a vendor at the corvetteforum.com is running

Same here. I don't really use it much though.

Here is a link of a car that's for sale, that has the HUD. BTW, it has speed, RPM, and several other items ie. fuel gauge, or oil pressure etc. You can adjust the HUD to nothing but MPH, or MPH and RPM, or MPH, RPM and one of the other gauges (fuel, oil, temp. etc) Or you can turn the entire HUD off if you'd like. It also has an variable illumination.

Info displayed is RPM (Bar graph) starts lower left and raises over the top of the displayed speed.

MPH (Digital Display)

Then the bar graph far right you can select IIRC either Gas, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, I usually leave mine on the gas.

Great kit!! It has every thing you need. I installed one in my 01 Z06. It took me about 4 and a half hours to do. Great instruction manual is included.

My first FRC came with it,..my second one did not.

I did however, jack my HUD unit, dash, and cluster and swap them into my new car.

Wasn't hard at all.

In my opinion I wouldn't let HUD be the deciding factor on what car you buy, considering there is a kit for $450 or so that installs in a matter of hours. So if you buy a non-HUD car and get the itch, the fix is readily available. We put it on the Z06 and man it is friggen awesome. Really easy to install also.

i've upgraded to HUD in many C5's, figure about $350/450 in parts and 2/3 hours of time

parts list
1. hud projector
2. hud switch
3. hud switch to cluster cable(not available from GM)
4. dash bezel

most '99 up clusters are HUD ready
