are they trying to compete with the german casrol 0w-30?

they prolly go on these boards and read which oil is most popular and since German Castrol 0w-30 is the oil everyone has at #1, then why wouldnt they want to have a product that would compete with it. And the gauge thing could be the oil pressure sending unit is starting to go bad.

Mobil 1 has made 0w40 for a very long time actually. It's been here in North America for 3 or 4 years now at least, and before that it has been a popular choice in Europe for a while. It has been the factory fill for a lot of Mercedes engines actually.

Extended idling, high outside temp, hard/high rpm driving, etc. will all cause the psi to drop lower than normal at idle. As the oil gets hotter, the pressure will drop.

All my stock LS1s with stock A4 idle speeds (A4 has a lower idle than M6, thus giving slightly less pressure at idle) have held anywhere between 25-35psi at warm idle depending on the conditions I listed above.
