I also have the y-pipe with no cats. Screw the cats unless you have to deal with emissions.

i have the hooker LT y pipe w/o cats, and they check around here (outskirts of houston) but you just have to find the 'right' place to get it done.

I have the Hooker LTs and Y with a pair of RT 703000 cats. The car is now quieter than stock at idle and light throttle. At WOT it screams. These cats are nice because the metal substrate wont shatter like the ceramic when the cats bottom out on speed bumps or the like. I was surprised at how much torque was added down low. The headers cut my 30-80 2nd gear pulls by half-a-second and added about 2.5mph to my quarter mph.

I have Hooker LT's with cats and custom dual exhaust. They checked when I did my inspection. The inspectors were very suprised it passed even with the prominant lope of the cam.

just have someone weld on a heat shield and make the O2 meet it, then you will pass visual. They ormally don't look hard, but first find out how much it will cost if they catch you, if it is to high, use the ORYP and weld in cats.

Hooker LTs, Hooker ORY, and QTEC, then stock SS muffler. No emission testing in Arkansas.

I drove around with the mufflex ORY for a while. I recently put a pair of Carsound cats on and it sounds much better. Before it was very raspy. Now it is quiter but deeper at idle/cruise and still screams like it did before at WOT except without so much rasp.

Definitly a good move. Noticed a little bit of HP loss.

i know they work great because my (mild) cam only car makes great power with cats and 4.10's.

i put the oryp on my car w/ hooker LT's.

i have to have cats to pass emissions in my city(nashville, TN)

what i did was take the bullet stock muffler and gut it out, and then i threw it in the y-pipe.

therefore i think i came out ok, cause i dont have the exhaust restriction of cats, but if the inspections people(who dont really have half a mind to know my car came with two cats), and i have no doubt that my car will pass inspections.

what do you guys think about my setup??

They don't use sniffers here in the Houston area anymore. They just do the visual inspection, then plug the car into a computer while it is running and let it check for any emmissions related codes. can't delete the O2's, though, or else the computer will know and fail you.

I doubt it would pass a sniffer test, but with the cats on it, you can't smell fuel like you could with the off-road pipes. They let it idle in the garage for a good 10-15 minutes, so they would've certainly known had it been running gutted cats or cat shields.
