Default True duels---Any pre-made setups out there?

I am considering a true duel setup. It would consist of QTP headers, duel cutouts, cats, x-pipe, going all the way out the back. Can this even be done? Are their any combination of parts like from Dr. Gas that I could just install myself. (welding and cutting is ok) Thanks

I think Speed Inc. has a true dual setup out the back. Kind of pricy though. Good luck!

heres a TTT for that. i would like some more info also. i would think that you could just make your own setup. have some pipes made, stick the cats on there. put some bullets if wanted, dump it before the axle. that is what i would like to do i think. anyways more info por favor!

I bought the Dr. Gas setup myself. About a dozen other people in my car club have true duals and they have custom x-pipes. In my opinion I think the Dr. Gas x-pipe is far and away better than their custom ones. Besides the Dr. Gas kit I bought two dynomax bullets and 2 turndowns. I had an exhaust shop weld flanges to my Hooker lt's then weld the true dual setup up, bolt it to the flanges, and place hangers where the exhaust dumps before the rear axle.

Here's a breakdown of the cost

Dr. Gas setup - $200 shipped
Dynomax 12" bullets - $70 shipped
turndowns - $20 shipped
install - $100

Total cost = $400 roughly

I would HIGHLY recommend sticking w/the 2.5" true dual setup. If I had to do it again, that's what I'd go with (have the 3" setup now).

Duals all the way to the back...
http://www.angelfire.com/on2/Vinnie/truedual.html

Nothing pre-fabbed (except the mufflers and the tips and the cats). All custom. Not mandrel bent, though, but still flows plenty good enough for the HP/TQ I'm ultimately planning. And the sound is great!

I may have to end up doing the work myself. Some of the local shops complain about the clearence and/or they do not do mandrel bends. I called Mufflex in Trenton, which is still pretty local for me but they said that I would kill my low end torque and were not interested in doing it. He asked me if I had considered one of their setups because he didnt want to see me go backwards with a duel setup. Better gains, dyno and track proven. Don't know if this was honesty or sales pitch. I wanted symmetrical, all the way out the back.
I would love if I could get some flanges on there to swap between straight and cats to pass the emissions. Anybody do this?

Dynomax bullets are like 35 or 36$ a piece from Summit and Jegs.

That is exactly what I want to do. The only reason why I want cats is for emmisions. My solution to that was have the cats and a set of cutouts that would interchange. That way I could go get tested and have my cats and then when I am going to go to track put the cutouts in. When I get to the track uncap the cutouts and basically run straight headers.

Thanks all. Called Dr. Gas today. Told them that I wanted to put flanges in for the swap, (emissions frendly to race ready) and they said as long as you can weld and cut you can do it.

Hey BLASTER,

I went to Mufflex and they told me the same thing, tried to sell me their catback. I've been to 3 other local shops and they all won't do a dual exhaust for me. I even went to Kooks on Long Island and they said they won't do it. Makes me wish I lived in Texas. So what are you going to do? Seems no-one in NJ wants to try.

Not living in Texas shouldn't keep you from getting a dual exhaust setup. www.laneswheels.com has an awesome setup. Overnight shipping in a "mattress box" is included in his price. Ground clearance is better than factory y-pipe for the 2.5" system. Price is competitive with high-quality stainless steel catback systems.
You will not find a better sounding exhaust for the LS1...but it is pretty loud.
He can do dumps before the axle or a complete dual setup out the rear...but that is pretty expensive and requires some modification to fit properly.

I had a mufflex 4" on my car (Single outlet with Spintech muffler) before switching to Lanes True Duals. I picked up nearly 30 rwtq down low from 3500-4200 and i still made the same peak power. i dont know about you guys but i like my power under the curve. I went from 11.7's -11.5's just by switching to duals.
The answer to your question is NO it does not lose low end torque at all. I will lay my graph over my mufflex graph anyday of the week if i could have it scanned. What headers are you running? I can build kits (I work at Lanes) and ship them to you. If you want catted kits those are mostly done here in house.

take a peek at our website @ www.lanesperformance.com

Look under F-body then performance then true duals.

Door39 - Don't really know. Rooad trip to Texas. Probable give Lane's a call. I didn't think they could ship something like that.

V6 Bird- Bone stock at the moment. Planning things out stratigically so every thing will complement each other. Plan to get QTP headers in the very near future.

Mufflex really discouraged me about the setup. It made me reconsider the Y-Pipe. Can Lane's offer a cat to straight swappable pipe with a whole setup out the back? Don't know if I can pass inspection withjust the dumps
