That's a good write up. Here's the basics:
1) Put front of the car on jackstands/ramps and let cool
2) Put a large drain pan under the oil drain plug and drain the oil.
3) Use a filter wrench bought from Autozone and unscrew oil filter
4) Let the oil dribble as long as your patience allows
5) Fill the new oil filter with fresh oil and put a dab of oil on your finger and oil the rubber filter o-ring that's built onto the filter.
6) Screw the new filter in place and tighten by hand 2/3rds of a turn after it starts to drag.
7) Tighten drain plug back on oil pan
8) Refill the crankcase using the fill cap on the passenger side valve cover until it goes to the "full" line on the dipstick
9) Start car and idle for 30 seconds
10) Re-check oil level and top off if needed.
* Including filter the LS1 engine takes 5 quarts of oil. Buy a 6 pack of oil and keep one quart for topping off between oil changes. ~Joshua

For the oil filters I've actually cut a few apart. The absolute best and the only I use are: Mobil, K&N, Wix. If I had to at gun point I'd run Ac delco or Purolator. Never ever run Fram. It's the worst garbage on the market. Cut one open, you'll see what I mean.
