Default How does the stall work?

How does a stall work? like if you drive the car everday

say the cam calls for a 3600

will my car be a turd until it hits 3600? or will it be revving all crazy til it hits 3600?

just curious if it drives like stock..and just gives you the abiltiy to get it up to 3600 for a good launch?

my car has a 4k stall and it revs to about 23 or 2400 driving normal, then when i stomp on it it flashes to 4k and pulls like crazy. I can foot brake it to 3500 for launches also. in OD the converter locks up between 45 and 50mph and in drive or 3 it locks up between 35 and 40. so on the hwy it drives like normal until u stomp it but around town the rpms are up a lil. hope this helps. you might want to do a search i remember seeing a video of a stalled car driving around town, that will give you a better idea. hope this helps

Read through this:

It'll explain how a converter works. You don't have to hit 3600 rpm (your example) to move the car. I have a 3600 in my car and I can keep up with traffic from a stoplight and keep the rpm's under 2300. Don't be scared!...get yourself a big ol' stall and have some fun!!

Also dont forget about shift extension. With every shift the rpms dont drop low like the stock stall, you will stay in the meat of the powerband with the new stall.

are you asking about the behavior of the car with a large stall?

if the PCM is properly tuned, the only thing you really notice is that the RPMs stay constant while accelerating at part throttle.... where before the engine would accelerate as the car accelerated, now the engine rpms jump up, and stay there, and the car "catches up"... then when the converter locks up, the RPMs just drop and you're crusing like you were before the converter.

other then sounding wierd, you shouldnt notice much under regular driving.
