You also have the option of having a 4" exhaust custom built.....there are 3 local shops who have been building setups for our cars.

The best in town (and arguably the nation) is Belangers up in the airpark. I've had 2 custom exhausts built by them and I was extremely pleased. Prices are up there, but you get what you pay for. You also get a 1-2 month wait period. I have his phone # if you want it.

The middle of the road is Pro Dyno. They custom fabbed my true dual exhaust and have custom built more LS1 exhausts than anyone in town. Their prices are pretty damn good.

Lastly is 1st Performance. Fairly new in the LS1 world, but by far and away the best bang for your buck. The owner is a wizard with cars, and can custom build about anything.


Your other option would be to go with a true dual setup with dual 2.75-3" piping. I have dual 3" piping which flows the same as a 4.25" single pipe exhaust. Both 1st performance and pro dyno can build them for you.

I also know you like to be the king of stealth, so maybe the true dual wouldn't be the best option for you as they aren't the quietest system out there, but will flow and sound better than a 4" mufflex (and shave a lot of weight off as well)

i'd like to go with true duals but i can't cause i have had complaints from my neighbors about noise. so a muffler is a must.

i'll probably see what pro dyno has to offer or just get the mufflex pipes and put a dynomax muffler in the back.

how good is 1st performance with exhaust?

do these cars need some back pressure or do they run higher rwhp with as least amount of back pressure as possible

With big exhausts like that I'm sure you're losing low and midrange and making a few up top.

Bigger isn't always necessarily better. I'd stick with 2.5 inch for more midrange.

I guess it depends if your car is more a driver or not.

how good is 1st performance with exhaust? </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Dirty, you can put real mufflers on a true dual exhaust....a couple people on this board have added full size mufflers to their true duals to minimize noise and still get the benefits of less restriction (from bends in the pipe) and weight reduction.

First performance is good with exhausts, albeit they lack the experience with LS1's that Pro Dyno has. I've seen both companies do exhausts and the Pro Dyno is much cleaner IMO, albeit their labor is a bit more.

If you are looking into going to either of those places, let me know. Our local AZFBA club gets 10% off of labor at 1st performance and I believe more than 10% off of labor from pro dyno. I can probably work something out with you to help you save some $$$$ on your install/parts.

For the mods he has, he could definately use some more scavenging <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

You're best bet is to take the car to Pro Dyno and let them throw it up on the rack and take a look. If there is a way to pull it off, they can do it.
