Default Is there a legal true dual system?

Why do true duals sounds so much better than a catback? What is it about their design? So my next question is if there is a "legal" system (...I know moving the cats but besides that) for long tube headers that sounds just as good as the no cats / dumped duals?

the sound is mostly from the muffler you choose as well as the equalizing of the x or h pipe section. legality depends on the state you live in. If you weld some cats in and run the pipes out the back you will be legal in most states. Some states do not allow longtube headers.

The Bassani system mounts to stock cats, there's some pics of it in the TD FAQ at the top of this section.

I ran my pipes out the back and had some magnaflow cats welded in, which got me inspected here in Texas. I was shocked that they actually didn't pass me with dumped duals and no cats.

so how would the sound quality be if I got magnaflow cats and two nice mufflers (I think flowmaster 1 chambers people like?)

Also how much would it run me-ish if I supplied a shop with the cats, mufflers + tips?

1. It would be a nice sound, the single chambers are nice.
2. We cant tell you that because different shops charge different prices. Call a shop and ask.

It's your opinion that true duals sound better. I've heard lots of true dual setups and never been really impressed by any. Long tubes are illegal in all 50 states.

if you dont have to pass a visual inspection (im not sure how all that works) then im sure its possible to build a legal system, given the cats are efficent enough and you dont have a nasty cam.

If you live in CA, longtubes and true duals are not legal.

well, longtubes would be illegal. last i remember, anything past the cats is legal, so long as the cats aren't moved from original location.
