Default Scraping the old gasket. Wicked easy.

I read about how it would take hours to rid the deck of old head gasket but mine was so easy it took only 10 minutes. What up with that?

I sprayed some gasket remover on there and wiped it clean with a rag - all done!

I noticed your car is a 2002. All 2002 LS1/LS6 cars came with the easier to remove MLS (Multi Layer System) gaskets. Much like the REUSABLE MLS Cometics. Prior 2002 head gaskets are much harder to remove.

Ah, I thought that might be the case. The ones on my car were steel with a thin coating of black stuff.

This part of the dis-assembly is going very smoothly. I vacuumed about a gallon of coolant from of the heads, it was nice to not have it go pissing all over the place when the heads came off.
