There may be a 5hp difference. The '01/02 cars ran stronger than previous years for many other reasons than just the cylinder heads.
If you're taking your motor out to freshen it up, you could have those "cheap" 241s waiting on a shelf for you. Before you put them on, to make it worth your time have them cut for bigger valves and have some bowl work done. You could pick up enough power this way to justify the swap without spending a lot of money for CNC ported heads.

There seems to either be some misinformation or incomplete information there. Allow me to clear this up; (casting numbers)
1998 806 heads
1999 853 heads
2000 853 heads
2001 241 heads
2002 241 heads
The '98 (and '97 Corvette) heads had perimeter-bolt valve covers, and were sand cast. In 1999 the heads were changed over to use center-bolt valve covers. Changest in port geometry were minimal. Next, in 2001 the heads were cast using semi-permanent molds instead of being sand cast. This gave a more accurate casting and decreased surface roughness.

Watch the TV car commercials and the newspaper ads, you'll start seeing model year end clearance sales, as well as new '07s on dealer lots.
My car is a 2000 that was made in November of '99 and it had 853 heads.
