Default A/C Compressor

I've narrowed down a squealing noise to my AC system. I was hoping I just had a bad idler or tensioner pulley, but I'm getting a metal grinding noise when I turn the AC compressor pulley with the belt off. Is my compressor most likely shot or can I get away with changing the pulley? I am still getting cold air with it turned on (not strong, but never was).

these compressors suck... to behonest, to take the pulley off you will need to pretty much remove the compressor anyway, so then the decision will be easier to make. I just replaced my compressor, and i think i will have to do it again... good luck... make sure if you get a new compressor thats rebuilt, make sure it has a lifetime warranty, im glad mine does...

Are you spinning just the clutch or are you spinning the whole compressor?
