Default HELP! stuck lifter!

well i am puting a new cam and lifter set in a friends 88 Gran Prix. the motor ate a lifter so here i am today. i am just starting to tear the thing down, im doen the the cam valley and i get all the lifters out but the #2 (i guess) exhaust lifter... i have tried everything i can think of.

any suggestions of what i can do to get this bad boy out?

btw its not an lsx motor i just figured this was the closest area.

Have you tried pushing the lifter into the motor instead of pulling it out? I've had to do this before on a few SBC and we would always use a magnetic pen to keep the lifter from falling into the bottom of the motor. If the magnet doesn't work, just pull the oil pan and fish out the lifter. Good luck!

I had to drop mine too, the lifter had turned. As stated above, I was able to use a magnet to pull through the intake valley.

thanks guys! so i just push it down through to free it then just pull it back out the way it came? i have not pulled the cam yet so i guess i havent exhausted all my resources yet. what causes just one lifter to get stuck, it dosent look corroded?

On mine the roller was damaged, so the twisting/banging caused the outside of the lifter to be pushed out making it larger than the bore.
