If you ran that thing for less than a minute you should be fine.

DAMN, first lesson to owning a car, NEVER let Autozone employees pick out your "off the shelf" parts. There are books hanging there for a reason, read it. Most those people don't know their *** from a hole in the ground & couldn't find **** without the computer. Then even if its obvisouly the wrong part they give all faith to the computer & swear its right.

Could you not tell it didn't fit or look like your old one??????

Should be fine, maybe the old gasket was stuck to the housing?

i worked at autozone but had to quit...i was over qualified...

seriously, some of the people that work there are a joke. NEVER let them get your parts. They are supposed to, its their job, but just offer to get it yourself. I have a much better job now. lol. I am at it right now

One of the guys at the local Advance Auto Parts keeps telling me that I should by running 80-90 gear lube in my T-56 trani. He told me I shouldn't be working on my car cuz I don't even know what kind of fluids to use.

As long as your car wasn't running without oil for long your should be fine... but if your *** was flooring it to the ground to try to fix the problem... the motor might need a "MEDIC!!!" so sounds like your fine though.

Hate to say it but if the filter fit then it was probibly the right one, more likely you just left the old filter gasket on and thats what caused it to leak (belive me I've done it before and It makes quite a mess).

sounds like a double gasket to me, just pick a good oil (GC 0w-30) and good filter (K&N #2006) and just get it every time...you cant go wrong with this combo, best oil and filter hands down. its a little more expensive than the rest but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!

At least you didn't forget to put the drain plug back in. I am good friends with some people that work at the local tire store. They do great allignments and lotts or other stuff. They hired this guy named Daniel to do odd jobs(inspection stickers and sweeping the floor). After about a year working there, he was changing the oil on a 97 Z-71. Dumb *** forgot to put the plug back in...........he pumped the new oil in the truck.......closed the hood.......then he drove it down the road to take it back to the owner. When Daniel call the owner of the tire store, all you could hear the owner say was GGGGGGGGGGGGG DDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAMIT Daniel. Daniel is fired and his new name is Damnit Daniel.

You should sell your car if you cant figure out what oil filter you need to have.
