Stupid header question...
Got the pacesetters in yesterday. Now I need to take it to a muffler shop and get rid of the clamps and weld it up.
I know I need to have them weld the y to the catback. I have a pacestter y (2 piece) so I will have them weld that as well.
But what about the header to y? Should I just have them tac weld that? That's what I was thinking. The clamp on the passenger side header is low as hell, I have to get that off.

I would ABSOLUTELY NOT weld any of it. I installed mine like 4 months ago, now I am about to do a heads/cam swap and they have to come down again. There are some really nice clamps for sale at allot of our sponsers sites. My wide clamps lose NO ground clearance. I wouldnt weld if I were you. Just my .02 though

Thanks guys, not sure what I'm going to do now.
The other issue is the y pipe banging. It's got alot of clearance (other than that clamp), but it bangs at WOT. The guy that did the headers said that the hangar on the y needs to be cut off and welded back on in a different spot and that should take care of the banging. It's the pacesetter y.
Thoughts?

You don't want to weld it for one simple reason - when you have to take it back out (and you will), its much easier to remove several small pieces than a few large ones.

I dont think one or two spot welds to hold it in place would hurt. I have some nice *** stainless torctite clamps but am still going to put two spot welds on the where ther y comes together and maybe where the headers meet.

That's what I was thinking.
I've got to get rid of that clamp. I've already carved a few speed bumps with it. I could try and put band clamps on it, right now it just seems easier to have them spot weld it.
I'm up in the air about it.

well what kinda clamps are they? if they are u clamps then yea they are going to scrape and band, if you get nice wide band clamps you will have no issues and thanks yourself later for not getting it welded
