Need help on picking new muffler!
My 1999 trans am is completely stock.
I want it to sound deeper and louder.
I do no want to change anything about the engine.
I thought that putting a new muffler on would be the best way.
How do I choose which muffler to get?
I have read already that flowmaster sounds like crap.
I have looked at brands like magnaflow/dynomax.
I know that borla is too expensive for me.
I'm not looking to spend over $100 on the muffler.
Does anyone have any information that can help me??
Also I'm looking to also get new tips.
I really want dual, stainless steal, angle cut tips.
And also ones that are not longer than 10 inches.
The outlet size doesn't really matter anywhere from 2.5 to 3 would work.
I don't want the ones with resonators because they decrease the sound.
The only ones that I can find like that on summit racing are magnaflow ones for 50 dollars each.
I was hoping to spend about 50 on two.
Does anyone know any other good brands for tips??

lol hooker would be a TERRIBLE choice on a stock car. it's far too quiet. you will be very disappointed if you get a hooker on stock manifolds if you're looking to sound like you have any kind of *****.
look, i'm gonna be straight with you. a muffler swap is a dumb way to go about things IMO. if i were you i'd get a full catback. if you want to never mod your car and go catback only, get a loudmouth catback. they're under $400, loud and scary as stock manifolds could EVER be and are stainless steel so it'll outlast the car itself. not to mention the quality is GREAT.
if you intend to get headers later down the road, let me know and we'll work on it from there.
btw, the loudmouth has the option for either dual, angle cut tips (one tip on each side) or quad tips (2 on each side), all stainless of course. here are MY tips (they're the quad tips, they're called the dual/dual tips):

if u plan on getting headers then i would go with hooker or magnaflow, both have little to no rasp with headers....howeever, if u do not plan on getting headers, then i would go with the loudmouth

and i'm trying to convince him to save his money. the only weld-in muffler option would be a flowmaster since hooker and magnaflow will be too quiet for him on stock manifolds. flowmaster's the only one that'll sound ballsy and you'll see **** for performance. if he's THAT broke i'd just get a cutout. then you'd be loud and see performance and close it when you're sick of it. i think muffler swaps are pointless and stupid. either get a catback or just throw on a $50 cutout and call it a day. plus you can still use the cutout if he gets a catback down the road. if you buy a muffler, you gotta toss it once you get a catback unless you wanna sell it but you're still out money.

I'm a little in debt right now and I was just thinking about the future.
I'm definitely not modding the engine at all.
I will look into catbacks.
If what you say is right then I will just wait a while and save up and get the whole catback done.

if ur just gonna do the muffler the only 1 for around that price would b the flowmaster....a buddy of mine has just the muffler on his z28 with stock man, and it sounds real deep, but its not super loud.......i would just save up for the catback, or just get a cut-out

i dont think you would be happy with just a muffler shop personally....i would save for a loudmouth...you would be out 100 on a muffler swap just having them put it in not including tips...
