Sounds like a 3.42. You can take them all the way to 112mph in 3rd.

If you had 3.73s you would be able to hit 102 mph in 3rd @ 6500 rpm and 133 in 4th @ 6500 RPM

If you had 4.10s you would be able to hit 93 mph in 3rd @ 6500 rpm and 121 in 4th @ 6500 rpm

If you had 4.30s you would be able to hit 89 mph in 3rd @ 6500 rpm and 115 mph in 4th @ 6500 rpm

well this has got me curious too because I used to have 3.42's but had to shift into 4th goign thru the traps or right before them. my rev limiter was at 6200 though, is that why?

Try this site. Make sure you have the right axle ratio entered and max RPM

A 26" slick will be good for ~112 mph on a 3.42/1 car in third gear. The slick grows on the top end making the ratio effectively less.

In some regard it works as a continuously variable final drive ratio. Shorter at the line for better acceleration, and they grow halfway down the track for more top-end.

My 27" slicks grow enough to throw off my ABS making the light stay on after a pass.

Hmm, that link to the gear calculator tells me i have 3.73's according to my RPMs and speeds with 245/40/18's. I always thought they were stock, and was thinking of upgrading to 3.73s but im glad i didn't think about that too much
