so you bought a clear cover, put an overlay over the bird painted it and then pulled the overlay back off to leave the bird clear? Nice.

man, i just thought up a good idea. Take the clear cover, then spray some of that lense black out spray on it (the stuff people use to black out tail light and stuff) just spray enough to make it look black instead of clear, then cover up the bird with an overlay or whatever and paint it, then remove the overlay or masking, then when you have the light off, the bird would look black instead of clear, but with the light on, it would still shine through. On a white car like mine, the bird looking black with the lights off instead of clear would look way better in my opinion.

ive been confused on this, red is near impossible to match so i do NOT want to try and find a clear cover and attempt to paint it red, do yall think i could just sand the original plate cover down to no paint and see if it would shine through then? has anyone done this? i dont exactly want to go out sanding the bird on the front of my car if its not gonna go to clear at some point..

I bought a plate cover from GM Direct and it comes black....can,t see through it.Had a body shop paint it red to match my '99 vert and looks good. BUT DAMN,that clear one with maybe a red neon behind it...WOW,wish I'd thought of that!!
