Default Throwing belt problem

My 98 f body motor w/ corvette front accessories, no AC, throws the belt after running for a few minutes. I've double checked everything, reinstalled stock balancer etc to no avail. Any suggestions? tx

I would replace the tensioner, and also switch to a gatorback belt.

Thanks. The tensioner is new. Is it likely that I could have gotten a bad one?

I routed my belt the wrong way one time and the car ran normally but when I checked it it was rubbing on a clip for the tranny line and really f'd the belt up. Check to make sure you have it routed correctly. I figured the belt would only go on one way but i guess there is another way you could do it.

Check the crank pulley for alignment.

I agree proper routing of the belt, proper alignment of the pullies, and proper tension on the belt are probably the most critical things.... I've even seen a tool out there with a laser you set in the groove of a pulley and line it up with other pullies to check to make sure everything is on the same plane.. hopefully you figure it out.. good luck..

Pulley alignment check, then a Katech billet tensioner if that doesn't help. It's got high sides on the pulley to help even more, do a search for them

Assuming the balancer is torqued down properly and the right compatible parts are in place is there anyway alignment could be off ? if so how would you fix it? Could the Balancer go on too far? tx for everyones response

The balancer can't go on too far, but it's very easy to not put it on far enough, you have to put it on there with Vulcan Death Grip. lol

Most of the time, you can eyeball it to make sure it's perfectly inline. Also, check to make sure the idler pulley is tight.

Replaced belt w/ Gatorback. Tensioner is new. Belt still wants to come off at low rpm. It looks like it walks off crank pulley. Any other thoughts? tx

Hi... on the LS1tech link, it says these tensioners now come with a high sidewall pulley, included in the price.

On your website, it says no pulley is included ???

If I was to order one, would it come complete, and is the high sidewall pulley alloy, or plastic ??

I assume you will ship to the UK ??
It would be the Camaro/GTO version I need.

There is a footnote on your website that sayd it is not reccomended for supercharged cars. Mine is supercharged, but my blower drive is dedicated. It is not linked at all to the accessory drive belt setup.

Thanks, Stevie

If it wants to walk off at low rpm something is not right with the alignment or one of the pulleys.

Our website needs to be updated. All tensioners now come with the pulley. The pulley is plastic.

We will ship worldwide

If your blower drive is dedicated then you CAN use this tensioner.

Does it have the high sidewalls to help prevent the belt walking across the ribs ?? or is it a new stock idler.
