Thumbs up SRT-4 Neon Loses....to my 4x4!

Another win brought to you buy Dodge Cummins turbo-diesel

Last night off of 249, I see a group of ricers leaving the restaurant ahead of me, onto the feeder road. There was a Civic and a black SRT-4, they lined up at the redlight, so I went ahead and grabbed the third lane next to them. When the light for the cross-road turned yellow, all three of us had the rpm up (I was brake-boosting) and we took off. The Civic was somewhat quicker than the Neon, he stayed door to door with my truck up until around 70 mph when I let off. The SRT-4 was about a car length behind us the entire time.

Anyways, it was fun. Bet those two didn't expect a big 4x4 crew cab to be a good race

dunno, the Neon probably got the black smoke since he was back there and on the right side of the truck. lol

BTW, I should have launched in 4wd, I managed to spin my 33" Nitto terra-grapplers across the intersection. Didn't think that would happen

It's probably in the mid 14s, just takes off really good for a big truck

Runs out of steam past 80 mph though.

No doubt! Diesels only rev to 3K rpm, so that makes them hit overdrive before the 1/4 mile. They are pretty impressive until around 80 mph, but stop pulling as hard. I've had mine up to 110 mph, but it took a little while to reach. I'm sure the Civic and the SRT-4 would have came around me eventually.

LOL, sounds like your talking about a TPI car. I rode in Jay's F350 a couple times, impresive how well those big trucks can move around. Does not feel as big as it is.

Not a 4x4 launch and you still roasted them. They dont know how to launch then. With your tq and loss of traction it should have been closer. With a 4x4 launch it would have been a much easier kill. I do it all the time with my diesel and I have a much weaker box than you.

I practiced some 4x4 launches last night. You are correct, it launches MUCH better that way.
