Default What tires for heads/cam car!!

Well, yesterday I was surrounded by a squad of hopped up civics. Went at the light and went 1/2 throttle from a roll to leave em. At half throttle I turned my BFG KDWS's into vapor, shifted to second 1/2 throttle, more smoke, third, smoke. It finally bit at 1/2 throttle in third and I started to pull the turbo civic behind me. It was embarrassing. ZERO traction. I need some street tires that will have at least a little life and some damn grip. NO DRAG RADIALS. I do too much highway driving to have Drag Radials. They would evaporate in 3 months. What would you all recommend for factory 10 spoke 17's? What is available? BFG KD's are sweet, but for the price and low life they have I could buy 2 sets of nitto DR's for the price. Need help.

Probably not what you wann hear, but you're going to vaporize any street tire at your power level. If you wanna hook, you'll need drag radials.

the tire u have is actually one of the better ones as far as dry traction. it would be more worth while just buying nittos. but if u want any kind of traction with ur hp level its not going to last more than a few thousand miles.

I agree with what these guys have already told you. If you want any kind of decent traction on the street, your only choice is a set of drag radials. I have a set of BFG KDW's for my stock 10-spokes and spin them like no other from a 30mph or a 60mph punch unless I feather the throttle.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a smart ***. But how many people that get a brand new head/cam package could resist, when surrounded by 5 civics poppin their blow off valves on their turbos on an empty road at 3am. NO ONE ON THIS BOARD!

Just ordered 2 Nitto DR's from discount tire. Guess I'll have to deal with new tires every 4 months.

i heard the nitto nt555 tires are a good compound...i am in the same boat....in late may i put my cam/intake/pulley package in my ss and man my yokohams would hook for ****...and then about a month ago there was a huge get together at our local track and i got drunk and did like a 5 minute stand still burnout in the parking lot and wasted my tires so now im looking for some good street tires but not drag radials because my tranny needs a rebuild so i wont be doing hard launches any time soon....just need some good street tires
