Default LED backseat lights on a convt?

I have a convertible so obviously I dont have a dome light instead have two bulbs on the side. Anyone know what bulb size they are? Im looking to replace them with LED's. Are they 212 bulbs?

I had a 95 Z28 Vert, and when I went to change mine to green, or some other color, to my suprise, they are soldered in! I would just solder LED's into them.

Parts catalog lists them as a #561 bulb.

I took it apart last night. Its a bulb that has a wire loop on each end and then the socket hooks into that loop. Why wont Pontiac just use the same bulb as a dome light

The #561 bulb is a standard bulb used in dome lights and courtesy lights. It is a T-3 Rigid Loop bulb producing 12 candlepower at 12 volts. LED replacements are available in various colors on eBay and other web sites such as superlumination.com.

No, they're not. Although the 561 and the 212-2 are physically interchangeable, the 212-2 has only half the output (6 candlepower) and is not a recommended replacement for the original 561 installed from the factory.

They might, they might not. The 212-2 is an end-cap design made for the dome lights in coupes. The 561 is a rigid loop design (hooks on to the lamp contacts at both ends like your first photo) made for the side interior lights on convertibles. Usually the contacts in the lamp can be used either way - but not always so why buy something different like the 212-2 when the correct bulb is available? (The LED version 561 just like your photo is available in at least three different colors.)

The one on top. The socket has two little hooks that hook onto those loops. I cant really find them online. I may just try the ones below it and rig it in.

I found the 561 LED replacements at superlumination.com. On the home page click on the dome light link (3rd column, 2nd row). On the next page scroll about half way down and you'll see the 561 bulbs in white, blue, and red for $7.99 each.
