Signalwave Sequential Lights
I just put in the order for their sequential light board. I'll be putting in a new set of tail lights (that aren't scratched up and ruined by condensation) and a polished center piece at the same time. Does anyone have this, and what do you think of it?
I will also replace the bulbs. Should I put new OEM bulbs in or is there anything else I should look at?
Last question. How do I get all 3 bulbs to go sequentially? It is my understanding we only have 2 lights that actually flash and the 3rd one does not?

i have the signalwavez sequential lights system on my car and its definatly a great visual mod. I believe the signalwavez sequence board makes the third light blink automatically. When u get ur unit, it will have instructions to tell u to change the last bulb to a slightly bigger bulb (has part number on the instruction). also, to me, the instruction was a little hard to understand. just follow this diagram and u should be fine.

Thanks, I can't wait to get these in.
There should be a good bit of difference in light output with new bulbs (stockers have 78k) and the original tail lights are scratched and one is dark due to the great condensation problem they all seem to develop...
Good to know about the 3rd light, looks like I won't have to worry too much about it.
When you use the brakes though, does it still only light up the 2? The outside one normally doesn't come on for braking (I think) and I like the way that looks.
Also CaliBoy where did you mount it?

Then maybe its just that the stock outside light isn't as bright so it appears only the other 2 are lit up? Maybe i'll get used to it all lit up, but I always thought it looked better that way (the way it came).

I just order this kit from T-Bone (signalwave) and I want to know how much cutting into the light harness I will need to do? I got another harness from a bone yard, other than splice ins, with this kit do you swap out the outer socket like on other kits to a dual filament bulb or just upsize the bulbs?

If I remember correctly, I think you have to use a dremel tool or something similar to modify the outer receptacle & use a new dual filament socket.
Anyone else feel free to correct me, but I think you have to change the outer socket to match the inside ones.
Google 'sequential taillights' & add the word Camaro if ya wanna see some.

I have the 'blink-blink' sequential tails - hdthem for 4 yrs now with no problem.
The outermost light on the TA does NOT illuminate with the brakes, nor does it flash with the turn signals or flashers. It is an entirely different bulb, much smaller, and only one filament inside. Essentially it acts as a running light when the lights are on just to fully illuminate the entire housing.
To do the sequential mod corectly (or at least as far as I'm concerned) you will need to modify both your tail lamp housings. You will need to dremel out the existing small hole that receives the stock small socket/bulb to match a socket/bulb combo that is the same as the other two larger bulbs in your tailight. These sockets/bulbs came with my 'blink-blink' kit included in the price. Once you have done that you will be able to install the larger socket/dual filament bulb in the outermost position. This will allow for all (3) bulbs to light in sequence with the turn signals, flashers, and brakes - just as in the video posted by Runn.
If you go the (3) bulb route - you will also need to pickup an Electronic HD Flasher Relay (found at any auto parts store) and swap out your stock thermal flasher for the electronic.
The thermal flasher has a bimetallic strip inside that works based on current draw from all lamps that are in the circuit. Bulbs will light, current draw heats up bimetallic strip, strip breaks contact, lights go out. This happens in rapid succession to give you the turn signal flashing effect.
By adding yet another bulb in the circuit (3rd outer bulb), you increase the load and the stock thermal flasher will kick out much faster - the new outer 3rd bulb will only blink for a brief millisecond if at all. To get the true 3 light, nice succession in flashing from inner to outer bulb you need the electronic flasher as it does not rely on currrent load to make & break the circuit for flashing.
If you only go with the stock (2) bulbs and the sequential kit - you'll be sorry, not nearly as nice.
My sequential tails look exactly as Runn's...
