Default NastyPerformance fuel tank vapor hose leak FIXED....

i put in a catch can

will post pix soon as i get pictures uploaded....

we all had the problem of accelerating with a full tank, up hill, right turns and it would leak out and smell like gas... some say put a loop in the hose coming out, but it causes the hose to become plugged and therefore its no longer a vapor hose. some say they just cant get it high enough to not leak.

so if you cant beat all of that... i put in a catch can... it leaks into the can and then flows back into the tank no plugged hose...............................

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

3/8 barb-barb fitting, 3/8 hose, make your own brackets, 3/8 fitting to the tank

i tried several things and took my catch can that i was about to put for my radiator and chose to put it back here instead

Do any of the Nasty fuel tanks come with a vent?

I have one in the box and it dont currently have one installed.
I ordered a rollover vent for it today.

That should work, but how is it vented? Is there a hole in the catch can?

I like it, but I think one of those breather topped catch cans might be better. I might have to try that! Good thinking, hows the rest of the car comming along? Dyno yet?

what you mean, one with a breather on top? i guess you can put a filter if you like. with the black grommet there a 3/8 fitting will fit. if you take it out its alot larger. no dyno numbers yet. but i plan on putting some miles on it these next couple days and will see if rick @ synergy can set me up for next monday. im running through cat converters now. it sound like a sleeper now.. well not totally but some might not think there is a 408 under there anymore. the blower whine is a dead give away though.

I'm gonna do it, I'm just waiting until I order something else from summit or jegs because I'm too cheap to pay their $10 "handling fee" on such a cheap part.

So basically you have a hole in the top of the catch can for the "vent"? How big is the hole? I might have something laying around the garage I can use for this, and I have a breather already. I really just need the tank itself.

How do you think the catch can is going to respond to fuel being in it? Seeing that it is meant to contain coolant, wouldn't the fuel eat it up over time or no? Just a question...

it leaks back down with the angle its in. when i had it the wrong way before it wasnt draining back down. and it had fuel in it for over two weeks. and no sign of eating away on the plastic, just like having fuel in fuel jug made of plastic.

also i cut the barb fitting down so it did not stick up into the catch can so it would drain easier. for got to mention that part.

Did mine tonight, gotta get some gas this weekend and see what happens. I pulled their fittings out and used 3/8" barbs so I could put a breather on it. I zip tied it to the fill tube, I'm not ambitious enough to make a bracket like you did.....

As far as it being safe for fuel, if you look at the petcock it says "fuel" on it, they use these on Jr. Dragsters for fuel tanks. Now I just gotta fix my tranny leaks and install the DS safety loop and move my IC and install some shrouding and.......
