Default K&N performance kit

I am wanting to hear some opinions on these. Are they any good performance wise? I do know that summit racing gets $320 for the kit. Reason I'm asking is my Z28 I bought a month ago came with one of these on it. The kit does away with the stock air box assembly, and a k&n filter just clamps on. It runs very good. Thanks guys.

From what I have heard, they are not any better than a lid but still much better over stock. They are quite a bit more expensive than lids, but to each his own.

the lid/cai is better imho. the K&N can suck in the hot engine air and you cant do a CAI with it. a lid with a SSRA will provider better gains, and still be cheaper than the K&N kit

Lid + FRA. If it's already on there, no reason to switch to anything else. I personally don't like K&N filters, but I don't know if any of the "dry" filters would fit that setup or not.
