I used to use the carwash degreaser with no troubles. Just make sure it doesn't sit on a hot motor long. I do purple power and hose now.

What exactly happens if its too hot anyway, I always wondered. Well... besides cracking windshields.

I use this aswell. Works great. When I finish I spray WD40 all over it and that kinda keeps it shiney and gives it that wet look.

your windshield crack because of the drastic tempature change.. But you had to have a small chip for this to happen.. Hot days cold water will break it.. Cold days hot water will break it...

Washing a hot enigine will cause condensation. Plus we all know what happens when something that is really hot , cools down really fast.

one time i cracked my windshield when washing the engine (not from steam).... i just finished cleaning the outside of the car and lifted up the washer arms to clean the windshield... i then popped the hood to clean the engine compartment and forgot to put the wiper arms back down they were pushed right into the windshield cracking it to hell.. i bet i never do that again...ooops

Look in the appearance hall of fame, there is a thread on cleaning your engine. And as far as bling goes, wetsanding and neverdull have been working for me i'm in the process of bling blingin' my engine.
