Lightbulb Found my groaning noise!

I just want to post this to help others when they have the same problem. I had been experiencing a worsening groaning noise when I would push in the clutch on my car, and it would get slightly worse as I would go in to gear. It never groaned with the clutch engaged. Only when pushing the pedal in or out, or holding it. I was worried that my 2000mile SPEC 2+ was going out already. So we pulled the tranny. Clutch, pressure plate, flywheel all looked beautiful. Tranny seemed good with almost zero play in the input shaft. Checked the pilot bushing... the needle bearings had fallen out into a pile and were being ground to dust by my input shaft. My input shaft was slightly gnawed, but not enough to matter.

So just for the record: change that stupid little bearing when you change your clutch. We didn't change it when we changed my clutch, and had to pull it again. I'm glad that's all that happened!
