transmission mount
need to replace it and no shop around her seems to carry the part and the dealership wants $80 for it. I heard that any GM mount will do, but dunno if this is true. Also if anybody has a walkthrough to change this that would be great.

Go ahead and pay the $80.00 from the dealership. This is coming from experience. Energy suspensions makes a poly mount that is inexpensive and seems like an upgrade. This is what I thought as well until I had it installed. It makes a vibration in the driveline that feels like your driveshaft is out of balance or something. Everyone except for a few people have had the same exact thing happen to them. Don't know what it is that causes this. I even followed the direction of other tech people who had deleted the preload plate it comes with and shaved down the humps on the mount. It still had a vibration. I figured it would "soften" up as it broke in. It did not. I broke down and bought the OEM from the dealership and haven't had a problem since. The guys a GMMG even told me not to use a poly mount when I dynoed my car. Do yourself a favor...spend the money and forego the headache. Good luck!!

edit: Almost $100 after tax from the stealership. My butt hurts.

Yea, I know what you mean, but I wished I had just bent over and got the OEM one in the first place. I got mine for around $80.00. He sold it to me wholesale though when he saw how much it was. Cool guy!!! The prothane one and the energy suspension one are about the same. Polyurethane for suspensions=cool!! Polyurethane for mounts=vibration!! Except for the torque arm bushing. That's the only one I've had luck with. Good luck!!

i have the energy suspension mount. it gives more flex in all directions, especially side to side. so there is a little vibration on take off. i don't notice it at normal drivng. i run an open cut out straight from headers so my engine distracts me from anything else. in my opinion it was a good upgrade for heavy driving and on the track. the oem doesn't hold the flexing near as well. just my personal experiences.

Holy hell that thing was more work changing than it should have been. You wouldn't believe the kind of shape the old mount was in- two pieces lol!
