I heard somewhere that whenever you gun the SS the AC turns off, is that true?

Does it shut off the AC or just disengage the compressor clutch at a certain RPM?

From the factory the a/c clutch disengages at WOT at any rpm. It also does this if the engine is above ~4000 rpm regardless of throttle position. High rpm's are real hard on a/c compressors.

It still blows, but it isn't cold any more. I was racing an 06 GT on the highway and took it to 140 under WOT of course and it got hot as a **** in there. It was 95 degrees out in Arkansas.

Air still comes out, but I've always noticed a change in temperature of the air (this was on a warm summer day).

Most computer controlled cars nowadays do this to save the compressor. Back in the day of carbs and simpleness, you couldn't get a/c on high-reving solid lifter cars because the compressor couldn't take the rpms.

Dang...I don't feel so bad since a lot of you others didn't know...but I had no clue. I always shut off my AC when I'm about to race.
