Default Messed up Reverse

I have manual transmission and when i start my car and put it in reverse to back out of my driveway it sometimes pops out of gear and grinds a little bit. I then have to put it back in to gear and try again, If i am very light on the throttle it usually works. Can anyone please explain to me what i have to replace or fix and how much it might cost?

I had the same problem before redoing my tranny. Hat on one side of the fork was broken.

Worked fine after I replaced it.

If it's just the hats, they are pretty cheap and easy to replace. The bad news is that you have to remove the tranny and tear it apart. The reverse is in the tail part of the tranny so only that part will need to be opened.

I did the whole 3-4 steel shift fork, Synchros, keys, hats, etc. when I opened mine up.
