Default slicks,tubes,screw questions

I recently bought some used tires and rims. The guy had slicks without tubes and they were screwed. He claimed to have no problem at all with them that way. I'm buying new slicks and has wondering what you'll think about running them that way? Is it safe? I recently had a tire go flat at 100mph at the track and about hit the wall. That was with tubes and screws. Thanks for your input, Ken

I run screws and no tubes. I have not had an issue.
