what are major causes of carbon build up?

what are some of the major factors that would lead to carbon build up in our engines and injectors?

engine not getting up to operating temp..ie: the old lady that only drives to the store and back or to church and back....shitty fuel...etc etc

bad filters, bad gas, incorrect operating temp....thats about it

now when you say not getting up to operating temp do you mean driving the car without letting it warm up?

If the engine is running rich for any reason, it will accelerate carbon build-up.

Also, poor combustion, like from long periods of poor-quality idling (those of us with long-duration cams know what that's all about).
