it's done for....
so i was driving my car after not driving it for a month because of a lifter problem and after about 20-30 minutes of driving it happened, no oil pressure and it felt like i jumped on the brakes but in reality my engine seized up!! now i'm planning on buying a cbr600rr so i can still have sumpin fast while i build my car back up over the next couple of years cuz i am not givin up on her!! the thing is i kinda feel like givin up on the lt1 and maybe goin completely custom because i basically want a reliable 500 rwhp car and honestly i don think that is acheivable with an lt1.... do you guys think it would be worth the cost to get a whole new engine from the block up or start all over with my beloved lt1?

LT1 is just as good as any other SBC they've been making great power w/ them for years.. Way before i was born to boot (1980) .. Get a budget together and look around for some idea's... Forced Indux is the easiest way along w/ n20 to nail that 500rwhp mark and fairly inexpensive as well.. compared to trying to do it on motor..

my plans before all this were to go with a le2 h/c and then put a vortech on there with 5lbs of boost(years down the road) so that way i could use what i already have... if i were to keep my lt1 then i would try to go no bigger than a 355 with fully forged internals and a cr of 9.1 or so.. but now i figure if i get a cbr600rr like i want then i could put about 5-7k in the engine over the next two years but what i'm asking is if it's really worth putting that much money into an lt1 or would it be smarter to "invest" that money into another type of small block? of course before i do anything to the engine i'm going to build the rest of my car to handle all of the power

damn is it kill LT1s month or something?!
Sucks to hear, why not do what you had been planning to do? On a fresh shortblock it ought to be easy to hit your power goals and be reliable. Why not stay LT1? I guess change if you can get a good deal on a harness and everything else you would need for a swap, but if not why have to change so much stuff?

I am about to start the build my new setup tomorrow..
I was just saying I would of built an LS2 if I got the 6.0 Block. I love my LT's, but there are alot of parts out there for that Engine, and it's factory 6.0 Liters, nothing done to it yet. If I got a good deal, I would of got it, but I got my new LT to work on.

LT1's have come along way in the past few years, and are a great way to make power, and are normally cheaper to aquire a short block vs an LS*. Plus, if an LT1 is what your car came with, the wiring is alot easier, aka, no new wiring harness, trans(if you go LS, or crappy Injection (GEN I), or even worse a carb.
