Default wont go into park

just had my built transmission rebuilt after breaking a 4L65E output shaft and now installed. the gear selector is lined up and selects the proper gear but will not go into park. The car will start in 'park' as if it knows it's in park but the car still rolls. is it just something simple with the cable? does it need to be adjusted some?

could be a cable ajustment but could also be the park mechanisim , Over the years I have seen several of these where the when the park ratainer is unbolted to change the low reverse piston seals that someone forgot to put it back or tighten up the two 13mm bolts ,
disconect the linkage from trans turn as far clockwise as it will go , does the car have park if not time to pull the pan

the cable feels looser than normal so i'm hoping it's that. so i should be able to manually put it in park, and park should be so the mechanism **** is all the way to the front? ill try that after work tonight. thanks

just got under the car real quick and saw that some plastic inside the shift cable (under the rubber accordian cover) was broke and causing the cable to bend a little.i pushed it into park and it works, I just dont know if thats the solution or i need to still buy a new cable. thanks for the help.
