Default Cam installed, car won't stay alive...

I just put in a TR224, and the first two times I started it, it idled without any problems. However, as soon as I put it in gear and tried to drive it, it won't idle at all, it just dies. Once I get it going, it drives nice, sounds good, and pulls hard. Whats going on here??? I triple-checked the plugs and wires, I'm about to reinstall all plugs and wires again to see if that helps...

BTW, the SES light is on steady...

Please help! My first cam install went so well until now

Open your TB blade a bit (via TB blade screw- a bit 1 full turn at a time)
Disconect TPS sensor (bottom TB driver side)
Turn ignition on but do not crank for 30 sec
Turn ignition off
Reconnect TPS sensor
Start car and when warm see if that is better.

Repeat if necessary

This is called a TPS relearn, it will get you by till tuning.

Read the SES code, this might help you figure it out.

FWIW my HC car ran pretty well without a tune.

Another thought is that your clutch might be dragging just enough to make the car stall.

tune it... yes it may run without one, but its gonna be a bitch. regardless of fiddling with things to make it run and crap, you may just make it worse. just get a tune and be done with it. it will save you lots of stress

I noticed your in the sacramento region too. I am looking to get this cam also, think it will pass emissions? I have to change out my LTs for shorties but other than that I'm set to go, I just need to find a cam that will smog and I was hoping this would work. Hope you get it running good.

My car is an auto with 3000 stall and i just did heads/cam (stock ported heads 2.02/1.60 valves 234/242 .598/.610 114 using 7.4 pushrods) and we cant get it to stay running when put in gear. Idles fine in park but dies every time in gear. They tried unplugging the tps sensor but that didnt help. They didnt do the whole wait 30 seconds or anything though. Any thoughts?

Don't put off that tune. Take it from me. I put my car on the rollers today (untuned) and found out my AFR is way too lean in the top end.

Even if the TR224 runs well without the tune you dont want to risk it.

I have EFIlive and an LM1 on the way and an appointment for a tune on the 13th.

it doesn't lope? All of the clips I have heard were pretty choppy for such a mild cam, even on a stock exhuast setup that I heard. Maybe I will stick with Lts/ory then.

It has a noticable lope, I just thought it would be MORE noticable. I guess thats a good thing here in Cali. To hear it, you have to stick your face down by the tailpipes. Otherwise you really don't hear it. I see that most of the clips out there have the cameras sitting on the ground by the tailpipes as well...
