On a stroker it is a must. My car actually lost a couple RWHP and gained 8 RWTQ when I went to the Fast 90/LS2 TB. My car was much crisper with the LS6 intake on, even after the tune. I plan on building a stroker a little later on so it wasn't like I wasted the money.

There is a bolt-on only 346 that gained 2mph when switching from the LS6 and ported tb to a 90/90.
H/C 346's usually gain around 10-15 rwhp over the LS6, and ported 90's will gain another 10 or so rwhp.
