Default What do you like better about your boost setup or n/a or spray?

I am debating between the two and am on the market actually (most likely would rather have a boosted vehicle) but what do you all like about boost more than an n/a setup or a spray setup?

No filling bottles, and an earlier power band than an NA car......in my opinion with a nice FI package.

With forced induction and a good tune your car will still get excellent gas mileage, and you can still take the car on trips, with no filling of bottles. Bob

The only thjing I ahte about FI is the price. You can build about 5 N2O setups to one FI setup.

lol 100 bottle fillings = base turbo kit. If you spray a lot it might be worth just going FI.

Well, I have done n/a with nitrous, and now I am turbo. The n/a was by far easier to setup, tune, maintain, etc. It was also much cheaper. I hated my turbo install, so much that I may get out of the turbo game completely.

The good things about turbos: awesome power potential (depending on your wallet size), good drivability, power is always there.

from my experience turbo cars, even at the same power level as NA cars feel faster. i guess this is a sensation that comes from boost lag and that torque curve of turbos. i think NA cars feel boring, i like the shock of FI, and its not just from the additional power. its how the curve feels. I guess if i was a hardcore twisties guy predictable flat NA curve would be better. I was just really really bored with my vette making ~435 rwhp NA

my experience is always summed up to my old 92 gsx. The rush and feel of a turbo car when you are on boost is like nothing you would ever feel. When i test drove that clatter box, still one off my favorite rides by the way with all of its beat up interior glory, i will never forget that initial WTF expression that engulfed my face.

Also, you ALWAYS have it.... no need to fill bottles. You need to pay more attention to the details and be knowledgeable about your car, not just slap a kit and go..... the parts are more expensive becuz its more than just soleniods, lines, etc.

However, there is nothing like the initial surge of a turbo car and that famed whoose when you crap yourself and let off the throttle!!

I would tend to agree with this. However, some people may not like the power curve of a turbo engine. I autocross sometimes, and I personally prefered my car n/a for autocrossing. The turbo feels lazy out of boost, and then the boost hits and it slides around.

i dunno, i always thought turbo v8s didnt really feel lazy out of boost.. i guess thats because i come from imports though which really are tired out of boost.

i have to agree.... i have autocross imports, enter my amazing GSX again... (have i said how much i loved that car? ) and it felt laggy with the last turbo upgrade i had... but, that laggy on the course is directly related to the turbo selection and more importantly, its spool response or a/r. when i went to the 16g... it was lazy cuz i built that combo for drag and calle racing... not autocross.. I remember swapping back to the rebuilt stock sized turbo i had before the 16'n and i was about a much faster around the corners..

a v-8 turbo laggy is a strange comment but i understand if it all of a sudden hit like a shot of juice mid corner... you dont have your turbo matched to your app.. its that simple. Swap that turbine housing to a lower a/r... see the boost quicker and you'll have more fun around the track!!

If your looking at autocross, Supercharger or NA would be best, as obviously they are both belt driven (I guess if you consider NA to be belt driven)

I vote we give Bob from EP a lot of speed, so he can keep correctly answering these questions 24/7 while the rest of us build our cars.

it depends on the power level you want......dont waste your money on a turbo set up to make less then 1000hp, if you need 700-800 s/c your car, way less lag, and a lot of fun to drive. turbos are to much of a pain in the rear. so if you do go turbo it better be worth it and make big power. as far as no2 goes put it on everything! why not! but if you are happy with less then 700hp go with na and no2 it will be problem free and fun.

If you want a 700-800 hp SC car, then the motor has to make 1000 FWHP to drive the blow just to see 800 hp at the wheels... Ill take a true 800 hp car all day long with the turbo. If you stick your foot in it, it gets good gas milage and it all stock like.
