Default RPM/Redline after cam install?

Hi-

I was wondering what RPM my redline should be at after a cam install with 918 springs and a 228R Cam? How much can you go over the stock 6k after putting the 918s, Cam and new pushrods?

from what i've read around here, 6400-6500rpm for the ls1. i had my rev limiter set to 7000rpm couple of days ago, and i shift between 6700-6800 now. factory rev limiter was 6500rpm. i have PRC dual springs and ls2 though.
my cam peaks at 6300rpm with 112 LSA.

i have a 233/239 cam, my limiter is @6500rpm, and i shift almost right at that. WIth that cam, you would probably want to shift in about the same area. I usually try to shift at about 6200-6300 on the tach in 1st and 2nd gear, my tach sucks, and cant keep up. In 3rd and 4th, i can get it right at 6500 no prob usually. When you get it tuned, i would probably put the limtier at 6500rpm max.

You'll need to get on a dyno to see where you NEED to shift it. I've seen plenty of guys spinning their stock LS1 bottom end to 6800-7000. Is it "safe"? Well, of course there's more risk of it breaking. But that's what this is all about. I know I had no problems at all with it at 6600 and it should've been closer to 6800 to get the proper shift point. So now that I upgraded my rod bolts I've got the limiter at 7k and have bounced it a couple times.

Rod Bolts are my limiting factor My car pulls WAY too hard at 6500 to have to shift. Just IMO if you have stock rod bolts don't go past 6500 on a 2000. But again, i dont know exactly what the power curve looks like on your particular cam.
