Default At what point do you need shorter pushrods on a decked block?

I bought a forged shortblock and I think the builder cleaned up the head surface but I am not sure... I think they might have taken off about .010" - Can I still use the stock length pushrods or do I need shorter pushrods?

What's the most you can reduce the deck height (or mill the heads) and still use a stock length pushrod?

Thanks, -Dave

Hey mods, looks like there's no interest here in Internal Engine... think we should move this to the Advanced section?

Thanks, -Dave

You can check the preload on the lifter when you assemble the engine. That will tell you if you need shorter push rods. Try searching in this section of the forum. There are several posts that explain how to check your preload. Here is a good post explaining it. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...lifter+preload
