Default Largest Custom Grind

I currently have a cc306 (.544/.576 lift) and im thinking about going custom grind. I want to go bigger but I was wondering whats the largest i could go from your experience. I want to keep the 112 LSA as well. I will also be P & P the stock heads.

Anyone who grinds cams will tell you its useless to go bigger if your not willing to get that LSA down to like 106-110 and even 110 is not tight enough. Talk to Bauer, or even comp cams

I, too, am wondering why you are wanting to keep the 112 LSA. Is this on a stock block? I don't understand why people want huge cams and p&p heads if they can't safely spin the motor to the rpm needed to make max power.

yea if the lsa needs to come down than thats not a problem. I was just looking for some credible input. And yes it is on a stock block.

Mine was a 383, All forged. From Nu-tek Motorsports when they were in Biz, the Long block minus valve train ran me over 6k back in 2003. That was fully forged motor, maching, port work, assembly etc etc

yea with a stock block its harder to really go "bigger" than an 847 with heads. power isn't made by lift remember. the lsa and the duration make the power. talk to bauer and he'll get you a more drivable, powerful cam that makes power where you need it.

Not too sure about that. Bigger is not always better, but more lift most always does make power. LSA has more to do with shaping the curves, not just peak numbers.

I'm pretty sure that most of the LT1 cams Bret Bauer sells are on a 106 LSA.

there is a guy that lives not to far from me with a custom grind cam(not sure who its from) But i do know its all sound. it sounds like a very large cam but its lift is only around .475 max. But its the choppyest cam Ive ever heard. Just from the sound you wouldnt want to mess with it but from his dyno pulls(262 rwhp) He doesnt have that much. He said he just wanted the sound.

Damn 262 my car with headers and cold air intake should make more then that he prob has somthing to do with his rockers or somthing. What kind of springs is he runing?Maybe the springs couldnt handle the cam to much press from the lobe

hes runnin comp 918's and factory rocker arms. BBK shorty headers and stock cat back. ITs almost a stock car except for the headers and cam. I think that the stock cam is a larger cam than the one he had custom ground.
