Question AC compressor Q

the bearing on my AC is going out, making that ugly grinding noise, step dad told me i could bypass it with a smaller belt then remove it, anyone know anything about that? also can i just replace the pulley off the compressor or does the whole peice have to be removed and taken to a shop?

The compressors just don't go out....more than likely it's your A/C Clutch....and if it is they are about 180 bucks or so...at least mine was, and it just burnt up agian a few weeks later....so now I've said screw the A/C even though it's Texas and got the A/C delete pullys..
