Default Some preliminary numbers 408/88

Got 6 pulls in on the 408 PT88 HPT 96lb inj Solid-Tech prototype kit before the impending rag of doom decided to attempt a fly by.

Rag made its way by the turbo some how on dyno run 7 and well compressor blade is done for.

anyway 14 psi dropping to 10psi (crappy borrowed ebay boost controller). This is corrected for altitude. Didn't get to fine tune on the car just a safe street tune. Didn't rev the car out either . Dropping boost + revs = waste of time.

800rwhp is pretty respectable. what transmission is that through?

was that a clean pass or something not go right, it looks like the power drops off pretty quick. wondering if that enigne is to big for the PTE88 (it has the T4 housing right)

The boost controller I borrowed was junk as soon as the spring let the boost through the air bleed was stripped closed ergo back to spring pressure. This is the T4 PT88. It has more in it once we get a good boost controller and a PT puts a new wheel on the turbo. Your trans remember lol.

That dyno spooled to 14 psi the dropped off to 10 (spring pressure) as soon as it hit 14. The next pull we drilled the air bleed and hit 18 psi as i yelled whoa and the rag went POOF!!! like a little birdie out of the compressor wheel.

oh ya, duh.
eek did know you'd be running that much power through it.
how was the clutch holding it was only rated about 900rwt. ......might wanna stick with only about 14psi

sucks about the rag, would have like to have seen what that 18psi brought
ive only took my PTE88 up to 15psi (running 135mph in the quarter so 650-700rwhp) on my little 357.
Im sure your 408 breaths more though what heads you got?

TEA Stage 2 Heads I think they were 2.02/1.6 valves They are O-ringed also. Not sure on the valve sizes as I build a lot of different makes models, lots of different numbers lol.

On the 18 psi it was 807 or something like that but the dyno was still ramping up and that was at 4200 rpm by the time he got out of the throttle.

As of yesterday Tuedsay 9th PT had the turbo last week (wed) but had 5 infront of me still. They said maybe today they would look at it. Prob won't see the turbo back for 2 weeks. Have a Victor JR,elbow on the way as well as a NX gemini twin nitrous plate. Getting rid of the Nossles since I can't use them with these injectors. The turbine, downpipe, and uppipe (not crossover) are getting coated black as we speak. So 3 weeks and I will get to redyno and actually get to do some tuning on the car. Got a good boost controller. 850 on pump here I come !!!! Just had teh car detailed so It shoudl look pretty when the stuff goes back together. Will have updated pics with the next dyno. As soon as we get mor C-16 well see if it will break the 1k mark. I am suprised how fast the turbo comes back on boost after gear changes. With the Nitrous It should be tons of fun. Thinking 150 shot till 7 or so Psi. I have changed teh crappy rubber TB boot and ditched the MAF completely since these pics. Looks like I will have to remake the charge pipe with the Vic JR. Kit still keeps a/c and P/S but dp and crossover go underneath the car . If people ditch the A/c then th DP can go over K member. Trying to ket 25 kits on the shelf ready to go by early spring. Sure will be nice to have on the shelf ls1 kits.

Heres the last pic I have.

Iron block 408
Eagle rotating
Wiseco pistons
ARP studs
TEA stage 2 5.3l heads O-ringed
TSP cam (similar to MS3)
PT88
Solid-Tech Turbo kit
96lb inj
HPT 3 Bar
Twin walboro
-10 feed -8 return
Aeromotive reg
Meziere Custom radiator/fan/Elec WP on radiator
XS power cooler
Tial 44mm
Turbonetics godzilla BOV
yadda yadda

Still need to get a real cooler on the car but testing the xspower for the base kit. On c-16 there will be a HUGE Precision a/a core on the car. Stop by in a few weeks Jeremy and check it out. Once it is back together.

Def will do, pm me when you go to the dyno next. I'd like to see an LS1 f body put some big numbers up for once here in alb

I just started working on mine after a 2.5 month break from it. I'm in the process of buying a house and all the fun involved with that so the bird took a back seat....I scored a 91 civic for free for doing some welding, so I'm cruising that bad biotch now

But definately get back to me when the turbo gets there.

Are you sure the motor didn't injest cloth or impeller pieces?

Motor runs fine. It might have gotten a a little fabric/lint/small pieces, but I doubt it.

what do you guys thing about 5.3 heads on a 408? Is that an ok way to go with the smaller diameter chambers? if so it opens up head choices.

Nice numbers...for a sec
What are you shooting for hp wise?

We are using what has been working great on the 4 cyl cars for years. We always run a small chamber on the 4 cyl cars. I am still at <9 ish CR with the big dish wiseco/5.3 chamber on a .030 mill, lower that I would like but it will work.
