Default My idea for a Ghetto exhaust setup, will it work?

Well it after the holidays and Im broke, I just got the Camaro 1 week ago. Bone stock so for exhaust I was thinking of buying a magnaflow magnapack or bullet and cut out 12 inches of exhaust piping before the muffler after the cat and welding that in there. Will this setup work, kinda sorta? will it sound like poo? I dont want it too loud at all, because I will be carrying around a infant car seat in the back so dont want the baby to go deaf.

I would just buy a cutout and put it under the passenger's side seat, there's a perfect place for it, and when you have the kid in the car just cap it so it is quiet and open it up when you're alone for that obnoxious loudness. Best of both worlds, I love mine and it only will cost you about $35 for a manual one.

When I had the stock exhaust on my car I had a cutout welded into the bend right before the muffler. The "cutout" was made from a 3" header collector modified to fit the bend. It sounds like a lot of work, but the muffler shop had it done in 15 minutes, and the sound exits under the rear of the car instead of under the passenger seat.

I have a cut out...I think the only time it has been capped was when I bought it.

Oh yea and one time on the dyno when I wanted to compare the capped vs uncapped results. Besides that I don't think I even know where the cap is.

+1 for cutout

Cutout, I have had it on every F-body I have ever had...94,96,98,01 and now the WS6.
Put it back by the exhaust otherwise it is loud.
Best 50 bucks you will spend.
I don't have mine open on the WS6 because it has no cats and headers.
