I am doing a turbo set up myself right now. I was going to use the stock shortblock and see how long it lives. Now I am thinking that I want to run 15-20 psi on it but I know that the bottom end wont handle that . what parts do I need to handle this kind of boost ?
just good rods and pistons?

From the research ive done, you'll need forged rods, pistons, and a bigger fuel system. Anyone else can chime in. I think the crank is fine, although im gonna get a forged crank for myself when i get my turbo setup.

I just rebuilt my engine in hopes of getting a Procharger in the future. I went with forged rods and pistons, new clevite main and rod bearings, and kept the stock crank.
In answer to tilly, spun bearings are usually due to oil starvation or loss of oil pressure. This can typically be avoided with an upgraded oil pump, good oil levels, and frequent oil changes. I don't believe the crank has anything to do with it.

Hey G-force.. nitrorocket on lateral is running an ls1 with heads, ls6 inake pistons and rods.. the heads arent obligatory, but stainless valves are he is running 14 pounds with a peak and hold injector driver (300 bucks on summit) 96 pound injecord and a pair of 60-1 hi fi´s hes well over 800 rwhp so the answer sure is yes... an all stock, will take about 650 Hp but i would, and am going to run rods and pistons on my 01 ls, in the malibu (you know the one with the cool project name)
